Drones & cameras

At dependable we don’t like kit, we love what we can do with it.

The best drones…

We spend a lot of time evaluating drones and cameras.  However, ask 10 drone pilots which is the best drone and you’ll get 10 different answers – Actually, you’ll get one answer: theirs.  There is a lot of guff and bluster talked about kit in the drone industry.  Our advice is judge suppliers based on experience, service and results rather than kit.  Great results are delivered by great people using the right kit.

So, ours are the best drones therefore!  Seriously though, we’ve played the field with heavy lift octocopters, haxacopters, phantoms and tiny little things that buzz around our office.  After years of trying, we now believe we’ve got the best options, based on our desire to provide the best quality pictures in the safest possible way with the fewest possible restrictions on where we can fly. We use a range of DJI Drones because they offer integrated platforms that we believe provide the best combination of image quality, functionality, safety, reliability, portability.

DJI Mavic Pro

Finally our baby of the fleet is the “Mavic Pro”.  Ironically, the one thing it isn’t is “Pro” but it is amazing.  It’s a foldable pocket sized drone with many of the key features found on the Inspires and some they don’t have.  It’s perfect for recces.

Mercedes Vito Crew Van

We work from a customised Mercedes Vito crew van with 5 seats to carry clients as well if needed.  Crucially we have a specially adapted luggage bay with a significant supply of 13amp power from leisure batteries to recharge kit, in the field or on the move.

Ground Based Production Kit

When shooting video, it’s very rare our clients only need drone shots.  As part of Dependable Productions, we have access to pretty much any video or stills productions equipment including high end broadcast video and stills cameras, camera gimbals track, dolly, audio kit, lighting and decades  of experience in creating engaging video content.

Safety

We carry all equipment we may require to ensure the safety of our crew and those we are working close to.  This includes safety cordons, fire extinguishers, 2-way radios, PPE and lighting.

NB  We don’t use children to operate chainsaws. No amount of PPE would ever make that a good idea.
